Foreign currency inflow from tourism increases by 6% in 2012

The state secretary in the Ministry of Finance and Economy, Goran Petković, said that Serbia expected a foreign currency inflow of more than one billion dollars in 2012, which is by 6% higher than in 2011. He said that Serbia was one of the few countries continuosly increasing the number of overnight states and foreign currency inflow from foreign guests.

The domestic market is, however, stagnating, which can be contributed to the low purchase power of local guests and a mild increase in grey economy, underlined Petković. He assessed that more private funds should be invested in spa tourism, each of the spa resorts having recorded excellent results after investments.
