Knezevic and Vashchuk agreed that the current cooperation in agriculture has been quite good, specifying that it mostly included organised participation in trade shows in Canada and visits of representatives from Canadian companies dealing with genetics in animal husbandry and fishery.

The two countries have established cooperation in building storage facilities for agricultural and food products, transfer of technology and knowledge in the agrarian sector and health regulations regarding food products.

A Memorandum of Understanding between the Serbian Ministry of Agriculture and the Canadian Ministry of Agriculture and Agri-Food on cooperation in agriculture was signed in February 2012 with the aim of creating a formal framework enabling all relevant institutions in Serbia to establish adequate cooperation in agriculture with relevant Canadian institutions.

Over the past five years, Canada has invested considerable funds that have helped to advance the genetic material in Serbia, reads the statement by the Ministry and recalls that during 2008 and 2009 around 2,000 heads of Holstein-Friesian cattle were imported from Canada.
