Improvement of bilateral relations between Serbia, Kuwait

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Internal Trade and Telecommunications met with Prime Minister of Kuwait Jaber al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah to discuss the possibilities of improving bilateral relations between the two countries.

Ljajic and the Prime Minister of Kuwait concluded that there is potential for cooperation in the fields of energy, construction, agriculture, food processing and tourism.

Jaber al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah informed Ljajic that the Executive Board of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development will grant a loan of €25 million for the construction of the main railways station “Prokop” in Belgrade.

The loan will be approved tomorrow, under favourable conditions, with a fixed interest rate of 3% per year, a repayment period of 18 years and a grace period of four years.

The contract will be signed officially in Belgrade in late November this year between representatives of “Serbian Railways” and the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development.

Kuwait’s Prime Minister said that his country is ready to invest in other projects in the railway infrastructure of Serbia, and that the dynamics of these investments will depend on the successful implementation of construction work on the main train station “Prokop”.

During the visit, the Serbian Deputy Prime Minister had separate meetings with Finance Minister of Kuwait Nayef Al-Hajraf and Managing Director of the Kuwait Investment Authority Bader M. Al- Sa’ad.

Ljajic also met with Director General of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development Abdulwahab Al-Bader.
