By 2026, the design for the high-speed road between Kraljevo and Novi Pazar, spanning 84 kilometers, will be completed, announced Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Construction Goran Vesić.

During his visit to the Žiča Monastery near Kraljevo, Vesić stated that the road will begin at the Adrani junction on the Moravian Corridor, allowing travel from Kraljevo to Novi Pazar in just 20-25 minutes.

He mentioned that funding has been secured for the bridge near Maglič, but they are awaiting approval from the Republic Institute for the Protection of Monuments before Kraljevo can issue a construction permit.

“The money has been secured, and the project has been completed to ensure that people can cross the pedestrian and bicycle bridge towards Maglič and to revive another of our medieval cultural monuments, enabling citizens to visit it,” Vesić said.

It is worth noting that over a year ago, the Ministry of Construction, Transport, and Infrastructure announced an early public consultation on the preparation of the spatial plan for the special purpose area of the infrastructure corridor of the high-speed road IB line Kraljevo-Raška-Novi Pazar.

This spatial plan includes the corridor of the planned high-speed road in the direction of Kraljevo-Novi Pazar, covering about 83.4 km in length and a width of 50 m to 300 m. It encompasses the route with protective belts of the high-speed road (state road) and existing and planned corridors of other major infrastructure systems intersecting with the high-speed road (railways, gas pipelines, transmission lines, optical cables, etc.).

Earlier this spring, the planned road was classified as a motor road by amending the Regulation on the categorization of state roads, receiving the designation M17 (connection with the state road A5 – Kraljevo – Raška – Novi Pazar).
