In the first half of 2024, Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS) reported a profit of 32.8 billion RSD, surpassing the planned profit by 9.4 billion RSD, according to a statement from EPS.

Dubravka Đedović Handanović, the Minister of Mining and Energy and representative of the founder in the EPS Assembly, highlighted the significance of this financial outcome, particularly in light of the substantial reduction in electricity prices for commercial customers. She emphasized the need to continue reducing operational costs and to accelerate investment projects aimed at enhancing coal and energy production.

“Coal and electricity production was stable and aligned with the plan during the first half of the year, with output at Kolubara’s Polje G and Tamnava-West Field exceeding expectations,” Đedović Handanović said. The share of energy produced from hydro and sustainable sources reached 37.5 percent in EPS during the first half of the year. Additionally, coal reserves and reservoir stocks were maintained, which, along with ongoing repairs and modernizations, ensures reliable and secure production.

“Testing of the new B3 unit at Kostolac is currently underway, and EPS is expected to take over the unit in October based on preliminary results. This will provide us with extra security heading into the winter season,” Đedović Handanović added.
