Niš’s Konstantin the Great Airport sees 21% drop in passengers, but cargo transport surges

In the first eight months of this year, “Konstantin the Great” Airport in Niš saw a decrease of 21% in passenger numbers, with a total of 248,485 passengers, according to the airport’s statistics.

This marks a decline from the 313,179 passengers recorded during the same period in 2023. Official data reveals that each month this year has seen around a 20% drop in passenger traffic compared to the previous year, with the most significant drop occurring in July, where the number of passengers fell by 28%.

In July 2023, the airport served 53,771 passengers, while in July 2024, the number was reduced to 38,684. However, cargo transport at “Konstantin the Great” Airport has experienced a remarkable increase. In the first eight months of this year, the airport handled 215.9 tons of cargo, nearly a tenfold rise compared to the 21 tons transported during the same period last year.
