Drilling of first tunnels on Corridor 11 begins

The drilling of first tunnel Brdjani between Gornji Milanovac and Cacak on the future motorway from Belgrade to Montenegro began on Monday and it should be completed in two years. The works are performed by Belgrade-based construction company Planum which started drilling and digging up the materials for both tunnels.

Director of Koridori Srbije (Corridors of Serbia) company Dmitar Djurovic told Tanjug that Brdjani tunnel near the village of the same name would be 455 metres long and represents one of the five tunnels on the 40,3 kilometre section from Ljig to Preljina where construction works are being carried out by Azerbaijani company AzVirt.

Djurovic said that construction companies are performing preliminary works and preparing to launch construction of the remaining tunnels.

In addition to the Brdjani tunnel, companies should also build the 125 metre tunnel Golubac near Ljig and 200 metre long tunnel Veliki Kik, as well as 270 metre long Savnica tunnel near Gornji Milanovac and 887 metre long Sarani tunnel.

The construction works on the expropriated section of land from Brdjane to Preljina are also underway and around eight kilometres should be prepared for paving.

For this purpose, the Azerbaijani government ensured a EUR 300 million loan with the fixed interest rate of 4 percent with the maturity date of 15years and 3 years grace period.
