The First Startup Weekend in Serbia a Great Success

Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander, Crown Princess Katherine, Prince Peter, Prince Philip, Mrs. Alison Andrews daughter and Mr. Michael Garfinkel grandson of The Royal Couple attended the final session  and the award ceremony for the winners of The First Startup Weekend in Serbia “Brand Check” team   at the Royal Palace in Belgrade this evening.

STARTUP WEEKEND in Serbia was organized under the auspices of HRH Crown Prince Alexander’s Foundation for Education and Culture with the support of the Ministry of Internal and Foreign Trade and Telecommunications and very special effort and initiative of Mrs. Alison Andrews, HRH Prince Peter and Mr. Goran Mialcic.

Over eighty young entrepreneurs gathered at the Royal Palace over the weekend for a crash course of developing a business idea and turning it into a business.

HRH Crown Prince Alexander addressed the participants and guests and emphasized:

“It was a great pleasure to have you all here in our home for the first Startup weekend in Serbia. You have been working intensively with your coaches. A lot of very good ideas were exchanged and your enthusiasm and real entrepreneurship spirit is very obvious and alive. We are all inspired. This is very encouraging for the future. My Foundation for Culture and Education will continue to foster entrepreneurship in Serbia. I would like to thank the organizers, speakers Slobodan Djinovic and Stefan Lazarevic, judges Aleksandar Cabrilo, Hercules Fisherman, Branislava Gajic, Vladimir Prelovac and David Schoch, coaches, sponsors, the Ministry of foreign and internal trade and telecommunications. A very special thanks to David Schoch for his magnificent support and advice. Also many thanks to all the companies for their wonderful support…” and added “… I hope that by organizing this event we have given a good example to the business community in Serbia and that events similar to this one will follow. We all must work together to make Serbia a prosperous and successful country.”

The winning team “Brand Check” consisted of: Mr. Nikola Milosevic, Mr. Malisa  Pusonja,  Mrs. Senka Zabic and Mr. Dejan Cancarevic.

The second place went to “Start app me”: Mr. Adrian Pica, Mr. Gabor Ciprian, Mr. Nenad Bibic, Mrs. Danijela Vasiljevic and Mr. Boban Lapcevic.

The third place went to “We go together” team: Mr. Marko Cirkovic, Mr.Filip Milenkovic, Mr. Vlatko Canec, Mrs. Anastasija Akinova, Mr. Denis Hati and Mr. Stefan Josimov.

STARTUP WEEKEND has been organized so far in over 100 countries with over 57,000 entrepreneurs and is the pillar of development of new businesses and the employment of young people.
