Cashiers in shops in Leskovac are the more educated part of the people living there since they mainly have diplomas of high schools and university faculties.

At the ‘Metro’ shops almost all employees have high school education.

-That is our reality. We can cry over it but tears shall not help since there is no job for our qualifications – one woman says.

Across the ‘Metro’ there is a fashionable cafe. Waiters, waitresses and cashiers have completed their faculty studies or are still studying. One of them is a professor in English. She could not bear any longer taking money from her parents to go out. Instead of fullfilling her dream of working as an interpreter in a big company, she is working as a waitress.

– I have several friends with university education and they envy me that I have a job at all. Although my earning is solid, I do not want to spend the rest of my life at a bar. I am planning to go abroad – this girl says.

In one of the supermarkets there is a proffesor in literature working as a seller. She has never worked as a professor although her graduation marks are very high.
