Representatives of the European Investment Bank (EIB) said in the talks with Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government Kori Udovicki that EIB is ready to redirect a part of the funds from loans for various projects that are already in the procedure to the purposes of recovery of flooded areas.

The projects applied for funds by local self-government units can be redirected to the provision of assistance to small and mid-size companies in the flood-hit areas and local governments, which would be financed from the granted EUR 150 million worth of loans for infrastructure projects for small and mid-size companies in Serbia, the Ministry released.

The loan was granted in January 2014 and is the first part of the APEX loan line to the total value of EUR 500 million aimed at economic recovery and assistance to Serbia’s EU integration.

The officials agreed that project implementation was often delayed in the past few years but they also noted that reform administration will make the process far more efficient and increase its pace.

Asked to comment on her role in coordination of ministries, Udovicki noted that the priority plan of government work is in its preparation stage and should contain all plans featured in the expose of the prime minister, with detailed deadlines and organisational structure.

The plan will be prepared for the short-term period and it will also contain the guidelines and notes on potential obstacles. Thanks to the plan, the public will be able to review the entire process of Serbian government activities in the time to come.
