Serbia, China to co-host summit of leaders of Central, Eastern Europe

Serbia’s Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic and his Chinese counterpart Li Keqiang in Tienjin agreed that a summit of 16 leaders of Central and Eastern Europe be held in Belgrade in December. The two countries spoke about promotion of bilateral relations and joint infrastructure projects, as well as Chinese investments in Serbia.

Vucic invited Keqiang to visit Serbia in December, and to open the Zemun-Borca bridge.

Keqiang said that China and Serbia are good friends and partners, with strong traditional friendship, as well as a solid foundation at the political level, connecting the two countries.

Serbia was the first country in Central and Southeastern Europe, which established a strategic partnership with China, Keqiang reminded and said that he accepted the invitation of Vucic for the first visit of the Prime Minister of China to Serbia since 1986.

The officials agreed to sign together with Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban an agreement to build a high-speed railway from Belgrade to Budapest in December.

The construction of this railway is a big improvement, concluded Keqiang and described it as a very useful project in the current economic situation in Europe and also as a positive and encouraging signal.

On the sidelines of the meeting, he invited Vucic to pay an official visit to Beijing.

The Serbian Prime Minister pointed out that the railway Belgrade-Budapest will be very important for our country and that it is an opportunity we must not miss.

Vucic today met with representatives of the company CRBC, which is building the Zemun-Borca bridge.

He also met with representatives of the North Industries Corporation (NORINCO), which is interested in investing in Serbia.
NORINCO is the 151st on the list of the 500 largest companies in the world, dealing with defence systems, trade of oil and mining.
