A web portal dedicated to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) “poslovanje.rs” will provide entrepreneurs with better access to information, on available finance in particular.

Minister of Economy Zeljko Sertic underscored at a presentation in the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (PKS) on Friday that the main idea is to enable entrepreneurs, primarily SMEs, to have quick and easy access to the information relevant for their businesses.

PKS President Marko Cadez underscored that the project is a result of the cooperation between the PKS and USAID Business Enabling Project.

On the business web portal, entrepreneurs can find the information on available finance, place an offer or demand of their company, find business partners in the country and abroad, get answers to business-related questions within 48 hours and discuss relevant regulations, he noted.

As USAID Business Enabling Project Chief of Party Joseph Lowther said, the most important part of the project is the information on financing, both banking and non-banking.

He noted that last year, an SME took out a loan of EUR 21,000 on average, which is insufficient for launching a more serious production.

Lowther noted that less than 15 percent of companies in this sector use bank loans, which is not enough.

The portal will also contain Business Info Service, which will engage all sectors of the PKS, and the English-language version of the portal is expected to be launched in late March.
