The U.S. wants to invest in the Balkans, and Serbia has showed that it would like to have such investments by choosing a new president and a new government, Serbian Minister of Natural Resources, Mining and Spatial Planning Milan Bacevic has stated in Washington.

Bacevic conferred on Tuesday with Senator Richard Durbin of Illinois, Congressman Peter Roskam and Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky.
“We had a series of very successful talks in the Congress with influential people from various areas. We have not even excluded the talks on politics, and we exchanged certain experiences and cleared up certain misunderstandings. We have talked about their possible assistance in the talks on Kosovo-Metohija and its status,” Bacevic underlined in the talks with Serbian correspondents in the U.S. capital.

The minister said that an agreement on energy was signed in Chicago with New Generation Power, a company that deals with sophisticated technologies.
“NGP is interested in cooperation in a number of areas, beginning with the sector of energy, mining and spatial planning to big infrastructure projects,” Bacevic underlined.

As he put it, all this will be subject to talks and signing of agreements, which is expected soon. Bacevic said that during his stay in Chicago an agreement was signed on cooperation between Serbia and the state of Illinois.

An agreement on strategic partnership between Serbia and Illinois is being prepared, and this could follow the visit of Governor of Illinois Pat Quinn to Serbia in the coming month.

The Serbian delegation headed by Minister Bacevic will return to Chicago on Wednesday, where they will continue meetings with businessmen in this city, and meet with Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel.
