In 2012, Serbia exported most to Germany – USD 1.32 billion, while it imported most from the Russian Federation – USD 2.08 billion, according to the state statistical office.
After Germany, its main export markets were Italy (USD 1.2 billion), Bosnia-Herzegovina (USD 1.08 billion), Romania (USD 935.9 million) and the Russian Federation (USD 867.1 million).
Serbia imported most from Russia, followed by Germany (USD 2.07 billion), Italy (USD 1.84 billion), China (USD 1.39 billion), and Hungary (USD 936.9 million).
Trade with EU member countries accounted for over half of the total trade at 58.1 percent.
Serbia’s second biggest partner are CEFTA countries, with which it recorded a USD 1.32 billion surplus, exporting mostly agricultural products, iron and steel.
Serbia recorded its biggest surplus with individual countries with former Yugoslav republics – Montenegro, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Macedonia, as well as Romania and Slovakia.
The largest deficit was seen in trade with China, due to the import of cell phones and laptops, and with Russia, due to the import of oil and gas. These are followed by Germany, Italy and Hungary.
