Business leaders in Serbia expect growth this year

Business leaders in Serbia expect growth this year, despite the crisis in the Serbian and global economies, according to the results of an annual survey by PricewaterhouseCoopers, which was conducted in Serbia for the first time.

Regardless of the fact that the Serbian and global economies are going through a crisis, the good news is that a high percentage of business leaders in Serbia today see more good opportunities for growth than three years ago, Branka Rajicic from PricewaterhouseCoopers Serbia said presenting the survey results at the Kopaonik Business Forum.

The survey is presented traditionally at th world economic forum in Davos and this is the first time it was conducted in Serbia, where it included 39 CEOs who were interviewed from September to December 2014.

Globally, 1,322 CEOs were interviewed in 7 countries.

The survey in Serbia comprised heads of profitable companies that are above average and more than two thirds of them are from the private sector.

Only 24 percent of the CEOs in Serbia expect the global eocnomy to grow, while 45 percent expect their company to grow over the next year and 89 percent think their company will frow in the next three years, Rajicic pointed out.

Also, around 76 percent of the CEOs interviewed in Serbia believe that the introduction of a competitive tax system should be a priority for the government.

As many as 92 percent of those interviewedbelieve that digital technology could improve their business and increase their value, and they need new technologies the most because of data availability.

Most of the CEOs seek significantly better qualifications from their new employees compared to their existing employees and compared to what was sought before, according to what was said at the presentation of the survey results.

Also, the survey indicates that business leaders in Serbia are just as good as those in other companies in the world.

CEOs in Serbia are slightly yonger on average than their counterparts around the world. They also run smaller companies, but they are equally good, the survey showed.

They see their opportunity in taking on new markets and 29 percent believe that market to be Russia, 26 percent think it is Croatia and 24 percent feel it is Bosnia-Herzegovina.
