The Serbian government will make the decision on the extent of salary and pension cuts in the public sector within the next seven days, Deputy Prime Minister Zorana Mihajlovic announced on Monday.

Speaking to reporters in Lajkovac, where she inspected the works on the railway line to Bar on Railway Workers Day, Mihajlovic said that defining the priorities for ministries and public enterprises is the most important task.

Asked about the measures announced by Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic, which should cut EUR 700 million worth of costs in public enterprises next year, Mihajlovic said that all enterprises must have clearly defined priorities.

“We will discuss this by the weekend, and at the weekend we will know specifically how much and where we will save,” said Mihajlovic, who is also minister of construction, transport and infrastructure.
