Serbian Minister of Economy and Finance Mladjan Dinkic announced on Wednesday that he and Prime Minister Ivica Dacic will pay a visit to Moscow in April, where they will confer with Russian officials on possible tax free export of a contingent of cars from Serbia.

Dinkic underlined at the 2013 Kopaonik Business Forum that this would trigger a considerable growth of Serbia’s car industry, and also the arrival of another big car manufacturer in Serbia.

Noting that this year Serbia is expected to record a two percent growth, he underlined that the engine of the growth will be the export by the car industry and the revival of the agricultural production.

Moreover, one fifth of Serbia’s export in 2013 will come from the car industry which Serbia would not be able to achieve without Fiat investments, Dinkic said, adding that cars and car cables are at the top of Serbia’s export list.

He noted that this year Serbia is expected to record a 25 percent increase in export amounting around EUR 11 billion, EUR 1.5 billion of which will come from Fiat, and EUR 500-700 million from the Petroleum Industry of Serbia (NIS).

Dinkic underlined that for this reason it should not be questioned whether state incentives for investment pay off given that in the long run they are more than cost-worthy, and the next investment, which is expected to have a similar effect as Fiat, is an investment in a semiconductor fabrication plan by the United Arab Emirates.

He noted that the Ministry of Economy and Finance is preparing a nation plan for reindustrialization, which implies that four branches are crucial for the industry development – car industry, food industry and agriculture, IT and defence industry.

The draft will involve a great number of people – experts and businessmen, and it is expected that the plan will be adopted by the end of April, Dinkic said.
