They are not diplomats, but they move to a different country almost every year. Their “tenure” does not last strictly four years, but is limited by the time required to complete a particular project. Serbian builders make roads, buildings and airports around the world. They have been engaged in these jobs in the neighborhood, in Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as in Siberia, Peru, Uganda, Algeria, Kazakhstan, etc.

Only our largest and oldest construction company Energoprojekt is building in 20 countries. Most of their engineers and workers are at construction sites in the Middle East, Qatar, Oman, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, then Uganda, Peru, Russia, Kazakhstan, Algeria and Jordan.

– In Qatar, our company has been selected as the main consultant for the management of one of the world’s largest water management projects – the first phase of the construction of a Qatar drinking water mega-reservoir. The value of the work is about 4 billion euros – points out Bogdan Uzelac, executive director for operations at Energoprojekt. – Qatar produces all its drinking water by desalination of seawater at its north and south facilities, aiming to increase its existing drinking water levels to the level of reserves necessary to meet seven days of maximum consumption in Qatar’s water supply system.

The size of Energoprojekt’s enterprise is best illustrated by the fact that the procedure for entering the Guinness Book of Records in two categories has been initiated: for the largest drinking water reservoir and for the drinking water network with the largest reservoirs. – The project included construction, testing, sterilization and filling of 15 mega-tanks at five locations, testing and commissioning of pumping stations and related facilities and laying and testing of about 600 kilometers of pipes – Uzelac explains. – With the completion of the first phase of the project, the storage capacity of Qatar’s water management has been increased from 10 million cubic meters of water to 10.5 million.

Currently, Energoprojekt implements contracts for design, consultancy or supervision of the construction of several dams. Four are in Algeria: Seklafa, Subela, Djedra, Beni Slimane, and two in Jordan: Kufranja and Fedan, while in Montenegro they advise engineers on the rehabilitation of Piva PSP and Perucica HPP, writes Vecernje Novosti.

– At the beginning of the year, we also agreed to participate in the supervision of the construction of the 600-megawatt hydroelectric power station in Uganda on the White Nile River – says Bogdan Uzelac. – The HPP is located upstream of the protected area of Murchison Falls and downstream of Victoria Lake, which is the second largest drinking water reservoir in the world, after Lake Baikal. Our engineers and workers build a Ghana pharmaceutical factory, an international convention center and the Hyatt Regents Rostov Don Plaza hotel in Russia. We are also carrying out works on the San Antonio Huarango Irrigation System, on the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the section of the Puerto Bermudas – Siudad Konstitusion Road in Peru.
