Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Mining and Energy Zorana Mihajlovic said today that the most important thing for Serbia is to be energy safe, for the citizens of Serbia to have enough electricity and gas, and for that electricity to be of high quality and stable.
“We will also have to improve the situation in certain public companies, because it is a question of our energy security, to speed up and implement projects more efficiently, to enable citizens to get electricity connection faster and not to wait for seven months to focus,” said Mihajlovic on TV Prva.
According to her, the issue of energy diversification is important for Serbia, just as the signing of the Washington agreement was a great challenge.
“As important as transport, so is energy infrastructure. Serbia should build its infrastructure, connect with the region, open the market and use energy from several sources, so that we do not depend on anyone,” the minister said.
According to a statement from her office, Mihajlovic also reminded that a feasibility study is underway on how to make the best use of Lake Gazivoda, in Kosovo and Metohija.
The Deputy Prime Minister added that the great responsibility lies with the directors of public companies and that we should not “pass the ball”, but that the Government, companies and unions work together.
“Elektroprivreda is our gold, not the remaining silver that we need to polish, and we need to sell it well. In Srbijagas, things can be done much better, as it could in 2012. Citizens are interested in Serbia being gasified and that gas being “All companies are welcome in Serbia, to build gas pipelines, to have other suppliers, to take care of the sources of petroleum products and to open the market,” Mihajlovic said.
She also pointed out that there is no reason for energy, as it was achieved with construction, not to be the driver of the country’s economic development, Dnevnik reports.
