Today, Ericsson announced the opening of a new Digital Services Delivery Center (DSSD) in Belgrade, which will contribute to the development of 5G technology in Serbia. This modern center will focus on network virtualization and 5G networks developed on cloud technology, which will strengthen the global 5G ecosystem, relying on Ericsson’s existing cooperation with Serbian mobile operators.
This announcement marks the 25th anniversary of Ericsson’s business in Serbia, and was announced during a discussion on “5G for Development and Innovation in Serbia”, organized by NJ. E. Jan Lundin, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to the Republic of Serbia, on the occasion of the visit of the Swedish parliamentary delegation led by NJ. E. Andreas Norlen, President of the Swedish Parliament. The meeting was attended, among others, by key representatives of the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications, the Ministry of Interior, Serbian mobile operators and Antonio Passarella, Ericsson’s director for Serbia.
Ericsson’s DSSD center in Serbia has already hired more than twenty local professionals and continues to search for staff among students from various disciplines. The opening of the center in Serbia builds on the strategic partnerships Ericsson has established over more than a decade with leading universities across the country.
With the transition to 5G, mobile networks are expected to support a much wider range of services and more data than before, with a greater degree of intelligence, virtualization and automation. Ericsson’s DSSD Center will be at the heart of this network evolution towards 5G technology, which will provide intelligent solutions for people, companies and society locally and globally and provide telecom operators with new sources of revenue as well as new forms of business collaboration and outstanding end-of-life experiences for users.
New employees in the DSSD exchange will work on the most advanced, state-of-the-art technologies for 5G networks – e.g. virtualization of network functions, applications and infrastructure developed on cloud technology, network automation and artificial intelligence – for Ericsson’s clients not only in Serbia, but also throughout Europe and Latin America.
Antonio Passarella, Ericsson’s Director for Serbia, says: “5G technology is a unique platform for opening innovation that is expected to boost the Serbian economy and global competitiveness. It can contribute to attracting more long-term investments in the country and be an additional driving force for the increasingly developed digital economy of our country in the future. The DSSD center is arriving at the right time because it will play a key role in the accelerated adoption of 5G technology in Serbia and beyond. This is another proof of our long-term commitment and continuous investment in supporting young people and spreading digital skills,” Nova Ekonomija reports.
