Export from Serbia increased by 8.5 percent in November and import by 7 percent

Serbia’s exports jumped 8.5 percent in November 2019 to 1.57 billion euros compared to the same month last year, while imports increased 7 percent to 2.08 billion euros, according to preliminary data from the Republic Institute for statistics, Tanjug reports.

According to seasonally adjusted indicators, in November compared to October, exports increased by 1.6 percent and imports by 9.7 percent. In January-November of the current year, Serbia’s total foreign trade in goods amounted to 37.76 billion еuros, an increase of 7.6 percent compared to the same period last year.

Goods were exported by 16.18 billion euros, or 7.4% more than in the same period last year, and imported by 21.58 billion euros, which is an increase of 7.7 percent. The deficit stands at 5.39 billion euros, up 8.6 percent from the same period in 2018.

The coverage of imports by exports is 75 percent, which is slightly less than in the comparable period of the previous year, when it amounted to 75.2 percent.

In terms of dollars, trade with the world has grown 1.7 percent year over year over the past 11 months to 42.31 billion dollars.

Exports were worth 18.13 billion dollars, up 1.6 percent, while imports were up 1.9 percent to 24.18 billion dollars. The deficit was 6.05 billion dollars, up 2.8 percent from the same period last year.

The largest share in exports was recorded in the Vojvodina Region (34.8 percent), and in the Belgrade Region (47.5 percent).

Foreign trade in goods was the largest with the countries with which Serbia has signed free trade agreements. Member States of the European Union make up 62.3 percent of the total trade.

The largest foreign trade partner, individually, was Germany, where from January to the end of November Serbia exported goods worth 2.05 billion euros and imported 2.79 billion euros. The second most important partner are the CEFTA countries, with which Serbia recorded a surplus of 1.85 billion euros. Exports amounted to 2.72 billion euros and imports 866 million euros. The export-import ratio is 314.5 percent.
