External trade deficit down by 2.2 percent

Serbia’s external trade deficit for the period January – August 2015 amounted to EUR 2.7 billion, down by 2.2 percent compared to the same period 2014.

The Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia released this data on Wednesday.

The overall external trade in the Republic of Serbia for the period January – August 2015 amounted to EUR 18.62 billion – which was an increase of 7.2 percent compared to the same period 2014.

Expressed in dollars, the overall external trade in the Republic of Serbia for the period January – August 2015 amounted to USD 20.7 billion – which was an increase of 12.5 percent compared to the same period 2014, reads the RSZ statement.

The value of exports amounted to EUR 7.9 billion in the first eight months of 2015, which is the increase of nine percent compared to the same period last year.

The value of imports amounted to EUR 10.6 billion in the first eight months of 2015, which is 5.9 percent increase when compared to the same period last year.

The export – import ratio equaled 74.7 percent and was higher if compared to the same period last year when it was 72.6 percent.
