Fiat: Serbia, Marchionne in Kragujevac on 16/4 for new 500L

Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne will be in Kragujevac (central Serbia) on April 16 to officially inaugurate the new plant which is to produce the 500L, announced Fiat Automobili Srbija (FAS) General Director Antonio Cesare Ferrara.

Speaking at a ceremony last night in Belgrade for the launch on the Serbian market of the three new Lanica models ”Thema”, ”Voyager” and ”Ypsilon”, Ferrara underscored the importance for Fiat – at this time of global crisis – for its new model to be produced in Serbia. The new 500L was presented in its world debut on March 6 at the Geneva Motor Show in the presence of Sergio Marchionne and Serbian President Boris Tadic. The target, Marchionne said during the debut, is to sell 160,000 of the new model in 2013.

Speakers at the ceremony for the commercial launch in Serbia of he three Lancia models (held in the elegant Beli Dvor Royal Palace in Belgrade) included Prince Aleksander II Karadjordjevic and the Princess Katarina, the Italian ambassador to Serbia Armando Varricchio and the commercial director of Fiat Automobili Srbija Gerry Clarke.
