Finland’s Ambassador to Serbia Pekka Orpana said on Wednesday that Finnish companies were more interested in investing in Serbia.

“This illustrates an increased trust in stability and improvement of the business climate, and the Serbian government’s commitment to EU integration,” Orpana said in an interview to Tanjug.

Some of the ten companies whose representatives visited Belgrade last week together with the Finnish economic delegation have plans for investing in Serbia, he noted.

Orpana said that Finnish entrepreneurs were particularly interested in using biomass for heating and electricity production, and that they would like to help Serbia in ensuring a more efficient forest management system in cooperation with the public enterprise Srbijasume.

“Finnish companies are really eager to take part in the Belgrade Waterfront project as a similar project is under way in Helsinki, implementing infrastructure solutions for an eco-city,” he said.

“Finland, which has a very good education system, is willing to share with Serbia its experiences in this field,” the ambassador said.
