Fredheim: Serbia needs better promotion

Almost without exception, companies that come to Serbia are surprised in a positive way because they find the situation to be far better than Serbia’s image in developed counties, Foreign Investors Council President Ove Fredheim said on Sunday.

We must be better at communicating with the outside world because the picture of the actual situation is much better than the opinion that exists about Serbia, Fredheim said in a statement to Tanjug.

Promotional activities are needed in order to highlight the positive reform moves made in Serbia, he said.

Fredheim said that the Council believes that it has a major role in this and that it is trying to portray the actual situation to institutions and companies that are interested in the circumstances in Serbia.

Being objective and analytical about this is important – we try not to embellish what we say, without being too harsh either, he said.

Now is the right moment for companies that would want to stay in Serbia for longer periods of time and break into the market, said Fredheim.

Progress has been made in the alignment to European regulations and Serbia is ready to open chapters this year in its accession negotiations with the EU, Fredheim said.
