Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy Zorana Mihajlovic said today that Serbia’s energy security is in the first place as an important area for the country’s future, that green energy is one of the conditions for developing a green economy, and that her plan is to make public companies more efficient and transparent.
“Especially when we talk about electricity and gas pipelines, energy diversification is important for Serbia, but also investments in green technologies and green energy sources. Our goal is for this sector to be a green sector,” she said in a conversation with the British Ambassador to Serbia, Shan McLeod.
Mihajlovic and McLeod talked about cooperation in the field of energy, with special reference to green energy.
“Energy stability is also a politically important issue, especially in terms of normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina and cooperation on the Gazivoda project. I believe that we will continue the successful cooperation in this sector as well,” said Mihajlovic, the Ministry announced.
Ambassador McLeod congratulated Minister Mihajlovic on her new duty, stating that Great Britain is interested in cooperation in the energy sector.
“It is a challenging, strategically and economically important sector. We are ready to provide our support and work together on important projects. I would also like to inform you that our government is organizing an international conference in December dedicated to climate change, because we want to send strong messages and commit ourselves to achieving the goals of sustainable development in the field of mining and energy,” McLeod said, Danas reports.
