How did the pandemic affect the business of Serbian winegrowers and winemakers?

When it comes to berry yield and wine quality, winegrowers and experts in this field of agriculture say that 2020 in the wine sector will be marked by an average year. They add that due to the coronavirus pandemic, it is extremely important that the National Budgets continue to support the development of viticulture and winemaking.
For Drazen Djurdjic, a winegrower from Sremski Karlovci, who grows vines on four hectares, two more are in cooperation, and six are in the process of raising, this production year for the production of grapes and wine was difficult and demanding.
Evaluating the year at the end in the wine sector, Professor Dragoslav Ivanisevic from the Faculty of Agriculture in Novi Sad says that the achieved production results, observed by regions, vary greatly.
The extent to which the Covid 19 pandemic affected the business of domestic winegrowers and winemakers will still be the subject of economic analysis, and what is important, as our interlocutors emphasize, is that the state continues to support the development of that area of agriculture with national measures and the budget for 2021.
It should be noted that thanks to well-created incentive measures at the level of the Ministry of Agriculture and the Provincial Secretariat for Agriculture, a significant step was made towards the development of the Serbian wine sector, that the decline in areas under vines was stopped, RTV reports.
