This was confirmed by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Office in Belgrade.

According to a statement by IMF Resident Representative in Serbia Bogdan Lissovolik, which was published on the office’s website, “the mission will also discuss the IMF’s concerns about the recent changes to the National Bank of Serbia law that undermined its autonomy and about the fiscal situation.”

The mission “will not engage in program discussions,” noted Lissovolik.

According to an earlier statement by Vlajko Senić, state secretary with the Ministry of Finance and Economy, the IMF mission expected on September 10 is tasked with analyzing the state of public finances, while technical talks with IMF representatives took place in late August and early September.
