“Thanks to incredible investments, Serbia is building a completely new infrastructure and people will be very proud of this country, they will not be able to recognize this traffic communication,” Tomislav Momirovic, Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, told RTS.
In the RTS morning news, he stated that despite the situation with Covid-19, a large number of projects are currently being implemented, including works on the Belgrade-Novi Sad high-speed railway, Moravian Corridor, on the Milos Veliki from Preljina highway section to Požega.
“A very large number of projects are currently being implemented. Next year we will open Nis-Pristina and Backi Breg-Nakovo. A new corridor Sombor-Kikinda, Ruma-Sabac-Loznica, a bridge on the Sava. These are incredible investments. What we are doing now, it is something that has not happened for 50 years. Serbia is building a completely new infrastructure, and people will be very proud of this country, they will not be able to recognize this traffic communication,” Momirovic stressed.
The construction of road infrastructure maintains the macroeconomic stability of Serbia, says Momirovic and adds that we have favorable economic results, because the state withdrew good measures in times of crisis and was not late in any reaction.
“Public investments have preserved the macroeconomy of the Republic of Serbia, and that is a fact,” the minister points out.
Next year, we will not only invest in infrastructure, we will save the economy of our country, states Momirovic and adds that the situation with the coronavirus also affects private investments.
“We all expect that private investment will be less, it is simply realistic in these circumstances. Europe is in the most difficult situation in the last 50 years and if we as a public sector with large investments for which we have potential because of course we have strengthened in the past since fiscal consolidation we are not investing enough in the economy, we are not saving the economy, we will not be able to preserve the economic standard we have reached, and we can and must do that,” he said.
He pointed out that the biggest burden of the corona, in addition to the health workers who are on the front line, were also borne by the construction workers.
“At no time did we stop on any corridor or section, works are being carried out all the time, we have made the most of this beautiful weather,” the minister concluded, RTS reports.
