Industrial production in Serbia in February increased by 2.6 percent compared to last year

Industrial production in Serbia in February this year was 2.6 percent higher than at the same time in 2020, and compared to last year’s average, it was 1.2 percent higher, the Republic Statistical Office (RSO) announced today.
Industrial production in the period January-February this year, compared to the same period in 2020, was also higher by 2.6 percent, it was stated in the announcement.
Observed by sectors, in February this year, compared to the same month last year, growth of 10.2 percent was recorded in the sector of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning, in the manufacturing sector growth was 1.4 percent, while the mining sector had a decline of three percent.
Data on industrial production – by purpose groups, in February this year, compared to February of the previous year, show that there was an increase in the production of durable consumer goods, by 16.6 percent, energy, by 10.5 percent and intermediate goods, other than energy, by 2.6 percent.
The RSO stated that the decline was recorded in the production of capital products, by 0.7 percent, and non-durable consumer goods, by 6.3 percent.
The volume of industrial production in February this year, compared to February 2020, had an increase in 13 areas, which participated in the structure of industrial production by 50 percent, and a decrease in 16 areas.
The RSO determined that the biggest impact on the growth of industrial production in February this year, compared to February 2020, had the production of electricity, production of coke and oil derivatives, production of electrical equipment, production of other vehicles and production of chemical products.
The seasonally adjusted index of industrial production for February 2021 in relation to January 2021 shows that for industry – the total growth of industrial production was 2.2 percent and that for the processing industry the growth was 2.6 percent.
The seasonally adjusted index of industrial production for February 2021, compared to the average for 2020, for industry – shows a total growth of 9.7 percent, and for the processing industry growth of 10 percent.
The production of small enterprises, where the number of employees is less than 50, which are not included in the regular statistical survey, is monitored on a sample of selected units from the manufacturing sector.
When the estimate of industrial production of small enterprises from the sample is included, industrial production in February 2021, compared to the average in 2020, was higher by 1.4 percent in total industrial production, and lower by 2.5 percent in the processing industry, Danas reports.
