Total insured deposits, at the end of September this year, amounted to 27.7 billion euros, which is almost 2.5 billion euros more than in the same period in 2022, the Deposit Insurance Agency announced.

Compared to 2008, when the insured deposit amount was set at EUR 50,000, total insured deposits in banks in Serbia have quadrupled, as stated.

The average growth rate of assets in the accounts of citizens, entrepreneurs and micro, small and medium-sized legal entities in the past 15 years was about ten percent per year.

Two-thirds of all insured deposits are made up of deposits by natural persons, i.e. citizens.

As the most numerous, deposits of natural persons, with around 13.4 million deposit lots, represent a significant, diversified and stable deposit base.

The deposit insurance system covers the largest number of physical depositors (98 percent) because the total amount of money they keep in one bank does not exceed 50,000 euros.
