Growth of Italy’s presence in south-eastern Europe through its use of the platform of logistical and customs services at the Serbian port of Novi Sad is the centre piece of the ”Cor Log Pan-European Corridors” project, being financed by the Ministry of Economic Development.
The project is to be presented in Belgrade and in Novi Sad by the Deputy Chair of Unioncamere, Antonio Paoletti, between March 13 and 15.
An economic mission will include 26 Italian companies from various productive sectors. The project, which has been set in motion by Unioncamere and promoted by the special company Aries, of the Trieste Chamber of Commerce, will enable Italian exports to be distributed processed and re-exported by Italian companies to local and eastern European markets. This will result in significant savings on customs procedures and tariffs, and will be to the benefit of the free trade agreement between Serbia and the Russian Federation.
With its formal launch on January 1, the project is expect to 24 months to get up and running through actions aimed at promoting the location of productive units in Serbia, at increasing outgoing volumes towards Serbia and south eastern Europe, with a special emphasis on the Russian market. As Mr Paoletti put it: ”The opportunities for businesses in this country and more generally in the Balkans constitute a crucial chance in this economic climate to get Italy up off its knees”.
