Opening the International fair of environmental protection – ECOFAIR and the International Energy Fair, Mihajlovic stressed that the goal is to increase the utilisation of renewable energy sources and reduce administrative procedures in this sector, as well as cut down the emission of harmful gases.

The Minister voiced her expectation that many new contacts will be established at the fair between companies in the energy and environmental sectors.

She announced that a list of 50 Serbia’s priorities in terms of investments in energy will soon be presented, adding that prospective investors will be familiarised with them.

Mihajlovic recalled that for the first time in 12 years the Electric Power Industry of Serbia imported electricity from Republika Srpska through a tender, explaining that 70% of the required electricity import has thus been secured.

The purchased electricity is by 20% cheaper than the one imported in emergency situations or the one that was imported in February this year, she observed.

The Minister reiterated that should there be need to import more electricity by the end of the year, it will be done through a public tender.
