The mission of the International Monetary Fund will have online meetings with the Serbian authorities from today until October 16, and the topics will be the assessment of the current financial situation in the country, possible continuation of the arrangement with that financial organization, but also the budget for 2021.
This is the last mission within the current arrangement of Serbia with the IMF, better known as the “Guard House”, which was signed in July 2018 and which implies advisory, not financial assistance from that international financial organization.
The Ministry of Finance told Tanjug earlier that so far there have been no negotiations with the IMF representatives about the new arrangement. The signing of such an arrangement and potential reform goals within it will be discussed during the upcoming mission, according to the Ministry.
In addition to that topic, the meetings with the IMF will discuss, according to the ministry, several reform goals that are on the way to fulfillment until the expiration of the program itself, ie by January 2021, and the current financial situation in the country will be discussed. The head of the IMF Office in Serbia, Sebastian Sosa, said earlier that they would also discuss economic development, the effectiveness of measures implemented in response to the coronavirus pandemic, progress in key structural reforms, including fiscal risk management and social enterprise management, Novosti reports.
