Mirabank likely to arrive in Serbia by end of year

The United Arab Emirates-based Mirabank will most likely start operations in Serbia in 2015, Serbian Minister of Economy Zeljko Sertic said on Monday.

At a Serbia-UAE business forum held at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia (PKS), Sertic said that a Mirabank investment worth USD 300 million will boost economic cooperation and facilitate transactions.

PKS President Marko Cadez said that the volume of Serbia-UAE trade is growing and that Serbia’s exports to the country in the first three months of this year amounted to half of last year’s total.

UAE businesspeople will on Tuesday visit the Agriculture Fair in Novi Sad, attended by the Al Dahra company, he said, adding that they also plan to visit several other cities in Serbia – Nis, Pirot and Novi Pazar.

UAE Ambassador to Belgrade Juma Rashid Al Dhaheri said that there are many new opportunities for further good cooperation between the two countries.

Humaid Bin Salem, president of the Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry, said that UAE businesspeople are in Serbia for the second consecutive year.

We are here to explore possibilities for cooperation, he said, urging representatives of the private sector in Serbia to visit the UAE.
