Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Milutin Mrkonjic said today that the Belgrade bypass is one of the most important parts of Corridor 10 and that only domestic companies are engaged on the construction of the Batajnica loop route.
Touring the Batajnica construction site, he said that the completion of the bypass around Belgrade, from Batajnica to Dobanovci, will create conditions for building an industrial zone with a large number of investors.

The bypass will be completed by May, which will relocate heavy traffic from the city centre, the Minister reiterated.

Mrkonjic pointed out that Serbia, thanks to the candidate status for membership in the EU, will be able to receive at least €200 million a year for infrastructure projects from EU’s pre-accession funds.

We could invest that in important traffic projects and in energy sector, he said noting that these are the projects that Europe wants and projects that over the next few years should be our greatest developmental opportunity.

He also announced that a protocol on the Russian Federation’s loan in the amount of $800 million for Serbian railways will be signed next week.

Implementation of the first project under the arrangement with Russia, which is related to the modernisation of the railway from Belgrade to Pancevo, is expected to follow next, he concluded.
