Through the project “Norway for you – Serbia”, the Kingdom of Norway provided support for 12 domestic entrepreneurs and small businesses. They realized their innovative ideas, improved production and thanks to that, employed 14 people.
Through the project “Norway for you – Serbia”, nine entrepreneurs and small companies were supported so that they could start and improve their business through the purchase of equipment. Within the project for support of youth employment, which was implemented by the organization Eneca, three companies from Novi Pazar received the necessary certification and organized business trainings for young people.
“Our partnership with Norway is extremely constructive, and I would like to emphasize the support in improving the basic infrastructure and innovative capacities and competitiveness of local businesses, which has contributed to youth employment. Norway has significantly contributed to improving the lives of citizens of Novi Pazar,” said the mayor of Novi Pazar, Nihat Bisevac.
The project “Norway for you – Serbia” aims to contribute to balanced socio-economic development in Serbia by increasing employment opportunities, especially for vulnerable and marginalized groups. It also supports social cohesion, improvement of local infrastructure, support for the integration of the Republic of Serbia into the European Union and strengthening the information security of the Government of the Republic of Serbia.
“The focus was on contributing to solving the problem of unemployment, improving the competitiveness of the economy and developing infrastructure in less developed areas of Serbia. Today we see very tangible results of our support to companies in their efforts to expand their markets through various innovations,” said Deputy Ambassador of Norway, Geir Hakon Johansen.
The project also contributed to strengthening the health system in response to the Covid 19 pandemic. The project is funded by the Kingdom of Norway with 8.7 million euros, and field activities are carried out by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS).
