The Minister of Health, Zlatibor Loncar, announced that the production of the Chinese vaccine against the corona virus will start in Serbia in October, and that the company Hemofarm is expected to produce about six million doses by the end of the year.
Loncar said at Belgrade’s Nikola Tesla Airport, where he welcomed the first contingent of raw materials for the production of the Chinese vaccine, that a cornerstone would be laid on September 9 for the construction of a factory that will produce that vaccine.
“The deadline for the completion of the construction of the factory is the first quarter of next year, and about three million doses will be produced per month,” the minister stated.
He added that “trial” production will last until October, and then “regular” production of the vaccine will begin.
“These doses will be intended primarily for the citizens of Serbia, and if there is a surplus, for export to the countries of the region,” said Loncar and added that Serbia will soon become the first European country to produce the vaccine.
– This is a new great success of our cooperation in the fight against the epidemic – said the Chinese ambassador, Kurir reports.
