Republika Srpska – the largest investment destination in Serbia

Companies from Serbia have invested more than a billion euros in Republika Srpska, which confirms that Srpska is an attractive destination for investment and expansion of domestic companies – said Marko Cadez, President of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, at the conference “Investment Potentials of Republika Srpska”.
“Serbia is the biggest investor in Republika Srpska and our companies are serious investors,” said President Cadez at a gathering organized in PKS as part of the “Days of Srpska in Serbia” event and announced new meetings of businessmen.
The meeting was attended by domestic businessmen from 40 companies from all sectors of the economy, from energy and agribusiness, various branches of the processing industry to services, construction, IT, etc.
800 million euros of joint projects
The Prime Minister of the Republic of Srpska, Radovan Viskovic, talked in PKS with representatives of leading companies from Serbia, including Energoprojekt niskogradnja, NIS, Neoplanta, Delta, Zepter, Ekonomik group, Jugoteks. He called on them to use the benefits and invest in Srpska. The Prime Minister of RS also had meetings with the Serbian diaspora, members of the Association of Serbian Businessmen of Switzerland, as well as the management of the companies Helvetia Zurich and “Pontilux” from the USA.
He expects investments in the border part of Srpska and Serbia, in the so-called Free industrial zones that Srpska wants to create: Trebinje, Gradiska, Prijedor, Zvornik, Bratunac, Vlasenica, Sokolac, Samac.
Eight hundred million euros is the value of joint projects of Serbia and the Republic of Srpska in infrastructure. In the past 10 years, Serbia’s investments in telecommunications in Serbia, the financial sector, the pharmaceutical sector, the food industry…
The common interest for the realization of projects on the middle course of the Drina, the construction of three hydroelectric power plants, as well as the interconnection between Serbia, Montenegro and BiH, is continuously confirmed. The construction of the hydroelectric power plant Gornja Drina, specifically Buk Bijela, Foca and Paunci, whose value is over 500 million euros, has been initiated.
Investing in Bratunac
The company “Economic Group” from Belgrade, which is engaged in the production of prefabricated containers, already employs 90 workers in Srebrenica. They signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the municipality of Bratunac, where they plan to start the production of thermal insulation sandwich panels.

Serbia is also the most important partner in Republika Srpska in imports and exports. Over 50 percent of the realized trade with BiH is realized with the Republika Srpska. In the first six months of 2021, the total volume of trade amounted to about 383.7 million euros. The value of exports from Republika Srpska to Serbia was around 145.1 million euros, and imports around 238.6 million euros. Serbia’s surplus in exchange with Srpska in the first half of the year amounted to 93.48 million euros, Novosti reports.
