Road infrastructure important for economic development in region

Minister of Regional Development and Local Self-Government Verica Kalanovic Kalanovic said that for the development of Europe, which is diverse by economic development and the standard of living of citizens, we all need to plan large-scale projects together.

Addressing the Eighth Conference of European Cities and Regions, which is held in Grafenegg, Austria, the Minister said that infrastructure has to be a standard that is equal to all who live on the Old Continent.

The Minister indicated that Corridor 10 is among the most important ones in Europe, noting that Serbia declared it a national priority because there is awareness that it is essential for Europe as a whole.

According to her, the road infrastructure is important for economic development in the region and raising the standard of the people living there, because investors come to places with good road infrastructure.

On the sidelines of the conference, she had a series of bilateral meetings with representatives of European regions and cities with whom she discussed the possibilities of cooperation.

Kalanovic will meet with Vice President of the European Investment Bank Anton Rop, who is also former prime minister of Slovenia.

The event is organised by the Institute of European Regions (IRE), with the support of the EU institutions. More than 250 representatives of local and regional authorities, European and other institutions from more than 20 countries in Europe are present at the conference.
