First Deputy Prime Minister responsible for defence, security and the fight against corruption and crime and Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vucic and Angolan Minister of Defence Candido Pereira dos Santos Van-Dunem signed a cooperation agreement between the two countries on the implementation of several projects.
Short, medium and long-term training of Angolan military personnel in the field of military science and medicine was also agreed on.
They highlighted the importance of building a military hospital in Angola, whose task will be to provide specialist medical services, and to facilitate the development of research capacity.
Also, they pointed out to the importance of education and training of military personnel in Angola in military science and specialisation in all branches of the Army, air force and air defence, and at the tactical, operational-tactical and operational-strategic level.
Van-Dunem stressed that the reform of the security sector is one of the priorities of Angola, which in this field counts on Serbia as a partner.
We are ready to work on the faster development of our relations in the field of defence, economic development, but also in other spheres of social life. Serbia is a European country, but we want to renew our old friendships, Vucic said.
During the meeting, a Protocol on the education of Angolan cadets in military educational institutions in Serbia was signed and the need for the earliest possible appointment of defence envoy was highlighted.
Van-Dunem and Vucic will on 27 February in Luanda sign a joint statement on the talks between the delegations of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Angola.
It is planned that Vucic also meets with President of the Republic of Angola Jose Eduardo dos Santos, the statement added.
