The Electric Power Company of Serbia (EPS) is ready for the upcoming heating season, announced General Director Dušan Živković in an interview with Tanjug. He confirmed that both electricity and thermal energy supplies are secure.

“We are fully prepared for winter, ensuring reliable service for our consumers. At the locations where we provide heating, we’ve conducted necessary tests, and the maintenance season has concluded, allowing us to welcome winter confidently,” Živković stated.

He mentioned that coal depots are nearly full, with a capacity of 2.3 million tons, and the hydropower potential is currently at 460 gigawatts, with about 80% of hydropower capacity utilized.

The stability and security of energy supply will also benefit from the upcoming commissioning of the Kostolac B3 Thermal Power Plant, where final work is underway.

“Last week, we conducted various tests, and trial operations have been completed. This week, we plan to carry out guarantee tests, and I believe that by the end of the month, we will finalize the transfer of Kostolac B3 to EPS, entering a one-year warranty period,” Živković noted.

Regarding electricity prices, he assured citizens that there will be no increases until the end of the heating season.

“We have engaged in discussions with the International Monetary Fund, and we will monitor how the pricing situation evolves. EPS is in a stable supply position and maintains a solid financial status,” Živković emphasized.
