Serbia’s government said on Tuesday it plans to intensify talks with China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) on a project for the overhaul of the railway line linking the capital Belgrade to Nis, in southern Serbia.

The modernisation of the Belgrade-Nis railway section is crucial for the efficiency of the rail connection of Greece’s Piraeus port to Hungary’s capital Budapest, Serbian infrastructure ministry Zorana Mihajlovic said in a statement.

The chairman of CRBC, Lu Shan, will soon visit Serbia to intensify the talks on the project, the Serbian government said, according to the statement.
