Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Mining and Energy Zorana Mihajlovic says that Serbia has all the conditions to be an energy hub and a transit corridor in the region.
Mihajlovic said that one of the focuses of work in this department in the new Government of Serbia will be the accelerated realization of projects and regional connections.
“Serbia has all the conditions to be an important corridor and hub for energy and energy sources in this part of Europe. There are many projects that were started in previous years, and which need to be completed or accelerated,” said Mihajlovic.
As it was announced, Mihajlovic says that the economic growth and development of Serbia, as well as our position in the region, depend on energy stability, sufficient quantities of electricity, gas, oil and oil derivatives.
She pointed out that this means not only the commissioning of the Turkish Stream, but also the construction of a gas interconnection to Bulgaria, which is important for the diversification of gas supply sources, and the expansion of the underground gas storage in Banatski Dvor.
She added that this also refers to the construction of the Trans-Balkan corridor, investments in oil and product pipelines, as well as the strengthening of the distribution network for electricity and gas.
“With everything we have done in the field of traffic, to return transit traffic to Serbia, to facilitate investments, we have shown how important the traffic infrastructure is for the development of Serbia,” said Mihajlovic.
The situation with energy infrastructure is the same, he says, because just as there are no investments where there are no roads, there are no investments without a secure energy supply, or when it is not of sufficient quality, Dnevnik reports.
