There are 40 registered camps in Serbia and their number is growing from year to year.
This was announced by the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia, stating that we have between 30,000 and 40,000 camping tourists a year.
However, the growth in the number of camps is not going as fast as the representatives of the tourist industry would like.
The pandemic has interested and reoriented entrepreneurs in this direction, because the demand for camps and outdoor activities has increased significantly, the president of the Camping Association of Serbia, Vladimir Dumic said.
As stated, there are no precise data on the number of camping tourists in our country, but it is estimated that there are between 30,000 and 40,000 a year.
Do you know what api-tourism is?
“The past year has shown that the trend of tourism development in this direction will be higher than in all other sectors of tourism, precisely because of the increased need of people to stay outdoors, in nature, in activities that contribute to health of body and mind,” says Dumic.
He estimates that camperism is on the rise in the world, and according to official statistics from 2019, in Europe, camperism represents 25 percent of the total tourist potential.
Foreign camping guests are very good consumers in non-board consumption and are often supplied with domestic products in Serbia on the way to Greece. They spend on average more than 50 euros a day per person, Dumic adds.
He says that non-board consumption in Europe amounts to 13 billion euros a year in more than 25,000 camps, and the camps make up 20 to 25 percent of the total tourist traffic.
Despite the primarily transit character of Serbia when it comes to camping tourism, it is very common for campers to stay two or three days longer, especially those who go downstream on the Danube or those who arrive from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“According to the rulebook on categorization, we are limited to camps with a maximum of four stars. That is the first thing that needs to be changed. We should also enable the development of the most modern camps with five stars,” said Dumic.
The general director of the company “Andric Company” from Ruma, which sells and rents trailers, vehicles and equipment for campers, Nenad Andric confirms that the interest in camping vehicles is increasing in Serbia from year to year.
It is estimated that about 30 such vehicles are imported to our country every year.
“The most common customers are people who are committed to an active life and vacation in nature, from young couples with children, through serious business people, to the elderly who have decided to give their lives a whole new meaning after finishing their professional careers, by he will travel around the world and enjoy the charms of nature with his dear and close people,” explains Andric.
According to him, the interest in camper vehicles and trailers in Serbia has increased by 30% compared to the previous year.
The capacities of domestic camps are relatively small compared to the rest of Europe, up to a maximum of 50 places, in larger camps such as Aniva camp on Srebrno jezero, camp Oaza in Bela Crkva, camp Zlatibor, Zasavica, Asin near Golubac, Eco camp Fruska Gora, Enigma near Vranje, etc., B92 reports.
