Today, the state invests 400 million euros in water transport, unlike in 2012, when the investments in this type of transport amounted to only 11 million euros, said the Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia and the Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Prof. Dr. Zorana Mihajlovic.
Today, together with the mayor of Novi Sad, Milos Vucevic, she visited the works on setting up modern navigation buoys on the Novi Sad sector of the Danube and pointed out that, together with concessions, those investments will amount to half a billion euros and that water corridors are just as important as highways.
“Until 2012, there were not so many kilometers of highways, reconstructed railways or talks about a fast railway from Belgrade to Budapest. Not to mention investments in the safety of navigation on the Danube. Today, we are one of the few countries that has invested in marking the Danube for the sake of safe navigation. These buoys will enable safe and secure navigation even in bad weather conditions,” said Mihajlovic, and the Ministry of Construction, Traffic and Infrastructure announced.
She added that investments are being made in new ports and ship locks, as well as in safe navigation.
“We will also build a ship lock on the Tisza, as we are building Djerdap 1 and 2. We continue to invest in water transport, and that is possible only when we have a stable and strong budget that can guarantee large infrastructure projects. I can proudly say that no construction site has stopped in Serbia and that there is a great interest of investors to work in our country,” said Mihajlovic. She pointed out that there is no future without investing in infrastructure, from utilities to transportation, Nova reports.
