Serbia-Italy agreement to develop intermodal logistics

The Project Destination Kragujevac foresees the creation of an Italian-Serbian consortium (with private and public members) that aims to improve programs of integrated and intermodal logistics.

Serbia, as recently affirmed by the EU commissioner for transportation Siim Kallas, has great potential in this sector, which is also an important tool to integrate the Balcanic Country in the EU. But, as observed by the Project Destination Kragujevac, Serbia suffers from a lack of logistics and intermodal infrastructures that could support the sorting and stocking of goods as well as customs procedures.

The new Italian-Serbian consortium of logistics – which also joins the big Serbian transportation consortium Srbijatransport – will begin to operate by analyzing the exchange flux between the two Countries through the study of quantities and type of shippings made, the evaluation of the quality of demand and offer and the analysis of the current transportation modalities.

Meanwhile, the Project has already created in Kragujevac an help desk dedicated to Companies with employees speaking both Serbian and Italian and who possess the knowledge of  facilitations, financements and partnership opportunities for Italian entrepeneurs in Serbia.
