In the first nine months of 2012, in exchange with CEFTA states, Serbia realized a sufficit of some one billion dollars. This mostly resulted from the export of agricultural products, iron and steel, data of the Republican Statistical Bureau show. From January to September, Serbian exports mostly included cereals and cereal products, various drinks, iron and steel and mainly imported coal, electric power, fruit and vegetables.
The CEFTA region is one of the few markets with which Serbia has had continuous sufficit in exchange, i.e. where exports exceed imports, and is the second most important market in terms of participation in total Serbian exports, after the EU. CEFTA is a trade agreement between Albania, BIH, Macedonia, Moldova, Serbia, Croatia and Montenegro.
