The Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications, Tatjana Matic, and the Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Serbia, Shan McLeod, talked yesterday about cooperation in the field of strengthening trade relations between the two countries.
They also talked about the importance of establishing a trade partnership and the actions needed to address climate change and the need to green economies and energy sources.
One of the topics of the meeting was the negotiation process regarding the continuation of trade cooperation due to the exit of Great Britain from the European Union.
The Minister and the Ambassador agreed that it is necessary to sign a bilateral trade agreement as soon as possible, since the current trade relations between the two countries were regulated by the Stabilization and Association Agreement between the EU and the Republic of Serbia only until January 1, 2021, the statement said.
The importance of environmental actions was also discussed at the meeting, with special emphasis on interdepartmental cooperation, involvement of local self-government, participation of the academic community, private sector and citizens, where the British Clean Air Strategy implementing an integrated approach was cited as an example, Srbija Danas reports.
