Serbia to boost cooperation with Germany’s Baden-Wurttemberg

Serbia’s Minister of Regional Development and Local Self-Government Verica Kalanovic talked with a delegation of the mayors of Germany’s Baden-Wurttemberg province about the possibilities for establishing a partnership and cooperation between Serbian and German towns and municipalities.

The delegation of 24 mayors was led by Chairman of the Committee on the Affairs of the European Union of Bundestag Gunther Krichbaum and the experiences on the functioning of local self-governments were exchanged at the meeting. The Minister evaluated the relationship between Serbia and Germany as true friendship and partnership and underlined that the visit deepens possibilities for concretisation of cooperation and making partnership between towns of Serbia and Baden-Wurttemberg. She noted that Serbia has a special form of institutional cooperation with the province of Baden-Wuerttemberg with a special form of institutional cooperation through the Joint Committee and that Krichbaum was one of the initiators of the formation of such cooperation. She added that the German province of Bavaria is one more province with which Serbia has such a form of institutionalised cooperation.
